Plan of action

We shall be scheduling times with all 3 of our performers

Noor,

Michael

and Kurt

and try to create a scehdule we can all work with.

We shall be using a combination of performance shots in the studio and location shots in the posh part of Harrow on the Hill and various places around central london like St James park and the London eye. The night time shots shall be shot in central London as that is the times she will be out with her boyfriend and her friends for the end. the day time scenes will be filmed in the Harrow area to show a contrast in her life.

Story Board

Here is a picture of the story board for our music video.

Our inital idea is Our performer is having a bad day everything is going wrong just like the lyrics say and then she see's her boyfriend and things instantly start to perk up for her life. At the end however she decides to ditch her boyfriend and have a night out partying with her girls.

We have spoken to a few people who have agreeged to be our performers.
Our main performer will be Noor in year 12 as she has the right sort of look we invisoned for our artist as her style is quite quirky and fun.

Her boyfriend shall be played by Michael and we shall be having a guitarist in some on the studio scenes who will be Kurt anouther friend from outside school who agreeged to participate in the production

It's the day that I get up too late

got a meeting at half nine

there are no clean socks

and the milk's run out

all is going to be fine

I miss the bus and the tube is stuck

there is nothing I can do but fail

if I had a hammer I would slam my thumb

but I don't so I break a nail

THIS IS THE SONG TO SING ALONG WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG
HERE IS A SONG TO SING ALONG WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG
THIS IS THE SONG TO SING ALONG WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG

I forgot my keys and I lost my glove

and I left my card at home

I can't find a thing, I can hear it ring

but where is my phone?

when the trousers rip and the wrong things slip

out to where they don't belong

i clearly got my knickers in a twist

did I have to wear a thong?

THIS IS THE SONG TO SING ALONG WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG
THIS IS THE SONG TO SING ALONG WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG
HERE IS A SONG TO SING ALONG WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG
THIS IS THE SONG TO SING ALONG WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG

I refuse to get upset

this is the sountrack in my head

I am the hero of my own big movie

Maybe a looser and flop

lets loose the bad mood and do pop

where is my party hat, lets get silly

The computer crashed the printer died

this is such a perfect day

I'm glad I spent it with you

now get out off my way

I know there's worse

and I know I'm fine

so f off and let it be

I am cursing cause I like to swear

it's all positive you see

Diva Eve

After contacting both artists we got a response from Evelyn Brink aka Diva Eve and she agreeged to let us use her song Wrong Song ( This is a song to sing along).

She is a highly energetical performer and her confidence being built upon real experience and training
in Berlin, NY and London.

Her love for Pop music was first discovered under the kitchen
table where she was found playing the flute along to ABBA.

Flute and piano lessons followed and songwriting began.
The Rock-gothic band phase and a live street music tour
started off her musical journey that has now lead her to
London via New York.

Musical influences are Billy Joel, Mozart,
Tory Amos, the Beatles and Madonna.
The big passion hit with Belinda Carlisle's "la Luna" setting
off a burning fire that has never set to cease.
Dionne Warwick was vocally inspiring and Queen proved
to me that Rock really rocks.

Artist Research

We decided to look through unsigned.com for genres we felt that we can work with to create a effective music video. We chose 2 different genres to appeal to different audiences. One was a soula rtist called Solo and the other was a alternative pop artist called Diva Eve.

The songs we considered were Mi Latina by Solo and Wrong ( This is a song to sing along) by Diva Eve.
With solos style we thought that our target audience would be from 18- late 20's as it is a mature style where as Diva Eve has a youthful up tempo song that would appeal to the younger generation of 16-early 20's.

Feedback

Well done for completing all of the textual analysis work Jasmin. You now need to upload further planning work i.e. initial ideas for your production and evidence of storyboarding.

Post Modernist

Modernism was a political-social/art movement that roughly occurred during the 1890's to the 1960's and was a rejection against realism.

Post modernism was from the 1970's onward and was the breakdown between genres and style, and the distinction between the binary divides for example a human and a machine. It mixes up time and space in its narrative and emphasises style over content. It blurs fiction and reality and is becoming used more for a mediated version of reality.

Key features on Post modernism is

Intertexutality- One media text referring to another

Parody- Mocking something in a original way e.g the simpsons

Pastiche- An artistic work in a style that imitates that of anouther work, artist or period. This is a self-concious imitation. E.G Marylin Monroes Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Madonna's Material Girl.

Bricolage- Mixing up and using different genres and styles. e.g Shaun of the dead is a zombie movie mixed with romance and comedy

Homage- A imitation from a respectful standpoint.

A Post modernist analysis of Lady gaga's Paparazzi

The opening of the music video starts with title credits which are in the style of old Hollywood movie credits ; making this opening a pastiche of them. There is intertexutality in this music video as it is similar to Michael Jackson's video's which were mini movies. Also the opening pictures are references to the popular movie Sunset Boulevard.

There is a scene where she is in a swirl background and this is meant to be a pastiche or homage of Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo. At one point she is wheeled into the manor and stands up half dressed like a robot and half human. This is blurring the boundaries between the binary opposites of humans and robots. Also her costume is similar to CP30 from Star Wars so there could be a intertexutal reference to the movie. The music video sticks to performance based conventions such as lip syncing and having dance sequences with the use of back up dancers.

At the end of the music video she is seen in a outfit similar to Minnie mouse making a reference to popular pop culture. The newspaper headlines show irony as they love her when she's killed someone but not when she is injured which could suggest she is sending a personal message there. When she is arrested by the police and is in a police line up the blurring of boundaries between fiction and reality take place. Al like the beginning the video ends with Hollywood movie credits making it a homage to Hollywood films.
