The group i have chosen to follow their music video career is 소녀시대-Girls Generation which is the english translation of their name which also gets shortend down to SNSD
They first debuted in 2007 with their title song Into the new world
As we can see the girls debuted with a very young innocent image of them all in seperate locations trying to achive their own dreams , the video is mainly a narrative based music video.
Their second music video 소녀시대aka Girls generation which is the same as their group name started moving them away from the narrative based concepts and into my performance based music videos to show off the groups talents as the kpop industry is very competitive
In this music video we can still see the running theme of innocence of the girls just playing around and having fun aswell as performing a synchronised routine
A few years later in their 4th music video Gee , the girls started to mix a narrative as well as performance into the music video more, they continued to keep the innocent image right up until the past few years.
In the last few years the group have started to lose their innocent concept and then start to adopt a more sexy personna and move away from narrative based music videos and start filming more in studio locations to start appealing to a more wider audience as seen in the music video Run Devil Run and Genie
In the most recent music video Hoot they started to adopt the use of homage as they made their music video resemble 1960's spie movies without any narrative showing the changes they have made as artists throughout their career
